Tier 1 Governing Board
The NCPN Governing Board (NCPN-GB), also referred to as the Tier 1 Governing Board, has met regularly since its inception in early 2009. The meetings include monthly teleconferences, face-to-face meetings at one of the clean plant centers, and annual general meetings. The teleconferences and meetings at the clean plant centers are usually held in closed session. At general meetings NCPN stakeholders and the public are welcome to participate.
The second general meeting of the NCPN Governing Board was held at the University of California, Davis, on May 11-12, 2010. The formal meeting was followed on May 13 by a tour of a California nursery and grape grower's research vineyard in the Central Valley.
Several of the commodity clean plant networks and other NCPN-related committees also met in Davis during the week of May 10-14.
The first general meeting of the National Clean Plant Network (NCPN) was convened at the U.S. National Arboretum in Washington, D.C. on March 25-26, 2009. The members of the Core Working Group acted as hosts and introduced the newly appointed members of the NCPN Governing Body (Tier 1). Those board members are: Bill Dickerson (ARS, Center for Plant Health, Science & Technology, North Carolina), Wayne Dixon (Florida State Department of Agriculture), Joseph Postman (USDA, Corvallis, Oregon), Ken Rauscher (Plant Board and Michigan State Department of Agriculture), and Tom Wessels (Washington State Department of Agriculture). One of the highlights of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by three USDA agencies - Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), and Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service (CSREES). In the MOU, the three agencies agreed to cooperatively support research, quarantine and outreach activities for the newly-organized NCPN.
